If I toss a piece of tissue paper on the ground and I am caught in the act, I could be fined $300 as a first-time offender.

Are all the bold words fine in the sentence?

Thanks.
Without comparing them to others you might want to use
like 'drop' instead of 'toss', they are OK.
Drop could be accidental, toss is unequivocally deliberate. In any case, the sentence is fine. I would probably say onto rather than on, but I suppose that sounds a bit stuffy.
drop/toss: too true, Peter.
I was think of "on accident'.

Stuffy? Nary a bone in you.
On is perfectly fine for colloquial speech, Lionel. Don't let Tromboniator scare you off.
Absolutely. No argument from me.
I don't think he'll be 'scared off'...he has a thirst
to learn grammar. Not that you meant really frightened
away, Faldage, but I getcha...Keep it up Lionel,
it's impressive.

No lionel, the words in bold are not "fine", what they are is merely "correct". Ask yourself:

1) What point did I want to make in this compound sentence?
2) To whom am I writing?
3) Did I ask if my word use was "fine" because the word "fine" was in my forebrain?
5) Ignore Faldage. He thinks he is the cat's pajamas.
cat's pajamas??

had to look that one up: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cat%27s_pajamas

sort of like the eel's ankle.
No. The fine's all wrong. LITTER BUGS SHOULD BE SHOT!

Think two eyes are better than three eyes.

If I (ONE) toss a piece of tissue paper on the ground and I am (CHUNK) caught in the act, I (TWO) could be fined $300 as a first-time offender.

Eels ain't got no ankles, less of course you wanna count those vestigial structures. But their teeth...got a mouthful...all sharp as sheit. And trying to get one off your hook...a three-footer will make a half-pint of slime. Pretty tasty though, sautéed in butter.

Kinda hungry now...Think I'll go fix a peanut-butter and eel jelly sandwich.
