There are many Anglo-Saxon names that end in "worth." From what I can find it seems to have the same meaning as the suffix, "ley," a clearing. Did they develop from different original languages?

Technically, they are not suffixes, but nouns as the second element in a compound word. Old English leāh 'lea, grassland, meadow' is not the same thing as worđ 'an enclosed homestead'.
