Is this a word? It doesn't get many hits. Can someone suggest another more common word meaning 'pertaining to population'. Ta.

well, it doesn't show up on OneLook, and I have no other suggestions, but this is an interesting link:
demoscopic

seems like a new(perhaps) word, that seems to fit a need. I like it.

Yeah, interesting link, thanks. I should have said more than 'pertaining to population' - that's is probably more like 'demographic'. You're right, this seems to have a more specific meaning - 'relating to surveying/studying groups of people' or somthing along those lines. I agree, it seems a useful word.

(demo- = people; -scopic = observe, look)

right. it's like studying demographics, no?

The biggest research institute in Spain dedicated to the survey and polling of public opinion is aptly called Demoscopia.

Ha, well there you go. I must use this word in a conversation now.
Rather than saying, 'Well, almost everyone I've spoken to disagrees with that', I'll say, 'Limited demoscopic analyses reveal that a large majority of citizens disagree with the assertion.'

exactly.
