When my mom was a kid living on a farm someone told her that you could get rid of a wart by rubbing it with a styptic pencil. Well, that's what they meant to say, they actually said a caustic pencil which is used to burn the horn buds off of calves. Her arm went numb to the elbow and it was days before it was completely normal again.

But the wart never came back!

A caustic pencil is an OTC remedy for warts. It looks a bit like a styptic pencil (made of alum) but is composed of of silver nitrate, which is caustic -- hence the name. A better wart-removal therapy is duct tape.

You never see warts on a duck, do you?

Laugh if you will, but the author of the study of the efficacy of duct tape as a means of removing common warts is no quack. I read it on the web. Shall I send you a bill?

http://www.ducktapeclub.com

Check out the Duck Tape Prom outfit Scholarship contest. On the Scotch brand duct tape site they have directions to make a duct tape wallet.

After three tries I can not make the link clickable. I suppose ICLUI... Will someone help me out here? Thanks!

I haven't made a thorough study of the various duct/duck tape websites, but medical use has not come to light until now.
second edit to make the link clickable. Thanks to all who PM'd and responded here! I appreciate the help!

Hi, vanguard. Do as you did to make your text red -- in place of red put url.

I once had a wart on a finger. I tried three different OTC remedies. They worked a little but did not remove the wart. I then tried Vitamin E and Vitamin A oils, applied once in the morning and once at night, and within 3 days you couldn't tell I'd ever had a wart there! I was amazed.

"...the idea of rubbing the wart with a raw piece of potato, and then burying it at night under a full moon on the east side of the house!"

Then what do you do with the potato?
