"Etymology - After Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab in the Old Testament, who was defenestrated and killed for not worshiping the right god."

Hi Anu -
I do not think the fact that Jezebel was killed for not worshipping the right god is correct.
Jezebel got killed because of the judgement by a righteous God for murdering an innocent man and stealing the man's property.
Ahab, Jezebel's husband and the King of Israel, wanted the vineyard of a man named Naboth. Whne Naboth refused to sell it, Jezebel planned and executed a conspiracy to have Naboth murdered and annexing his property.

Welcome Rajan.

If you really read the whole story there is more to it than just the Naboth incident.

"Jezebel. Jezebel.

If ever the devil was born,
Without a pair of horns
It was you,
Jezebel, it was you.

If ever an angel fell,
Jezebel,
It was you.
Jezebel, it was you. "
( but this was Frankie Laine's problem)

Yes, there was far more to Jezebel's life than her relationship
to Naboth.

I know nothing about Jezebel, except with the modern usage of her name.

The word defenestrated caught my eye because at work we have a fenestrated drape (sheet) used when a sterile field is required.

I LIU and defenestrated is a very descriptive word shocked

Yes, it sounds quite threatening, doesn't it?

When I hear it I get defenesive.

Fenestra is Latin for "window". Jezebel was thrown out a window
and the dogs ate her, as had been prophesied. Thus, evil woman.

getting thrown out a window and eaten by dogs makes you evil?

Oh no. She was just a very wicked woman, and the prophet,
said she' be "defenestrated", and lo and behold it happened.
