In searching for something else, happened on site with definition of some Russian words.
So I learned that "byelo" is Russian for "White". Now I understand origin of name
"Byelorussi;an Soviet Socialist Republic". The White Russians who took such a beating
after WWI. Dr. Zhivago, and all that.
