sorosis
n.,
pl. 3ses 73scz8 5ModL < Gr sbros, a heap: see SOMA16 a multiple fruit formed by the merging of many flowers into a fleshy mass, as in the mulberry

From New Scientist, 16 Nov 2002:
"The pineapple fruit is created by the fusion of between 100 and 200 indivisual fruitlets that are
embedded in a fleshy edible stem. The ovary of each flower becomes a berry, and all the berries
coalesce into one solid structure. This is referred to as a multiple fruit or sorosis.

sorosis n., a multiple fruit formed by the merging of many flowers into a fleshy mass

It just begs for alternative definitions.

sorosis - the condition of having a sister
or
sorosis - said female sibling is unhappy
or even
sorosis - an inflamed waterhole (and don't tell me "no way!") [read "no "a"!]

Sorosis - emotional reaction of small boy with bossy older siters.
N.B. I never had a sister, and might be more civilized if i had had one.

the "heartbreak of sorosis"?
