not so much words as clichés.

now a case can be made for telegraph.. even AT&T is now leagally AT&T--they dropped the words telephone and telegraph from their legal name..
who telegraphs anything nowday?

I nominate the word purist, on account of I don't know what it means :)

"Telegraph" is still a word of some utility, albeit less than it was when it was used to describe communication by dots and dashes. A person playing a sport is sometimes described as telegraphing when she/he does something which gives a prior indication of how she/he is about to move, e.g. "The fighter would have been more effective with the left hook had he not telegraphed it every time he threw it."
