Not to get political, but I noticed the word pedi-portrait in a news article about a picture of the 41st American president on the floor of an Iraqi building that had been put into the floor so that people could walk across his face. The portrait was referred to as a 'pedi-portrait' and I wondered whether this was a well-known portmanteau word or just an off-the-cuff creation by the writer of the article. Well, the word wasn't listed in either Onelook or on Google. Although Google had two entries for pedi-portrait, they were both completely unrelated to the meaning I read about in the news article.

I mention the word here simply because it caught my attention and thought you might be interested in thinking about it, too, if only in passing.

I hadn't heard that one, WW, but it gets me to thinking: wouldn't it be great for someone to collect all these fangled terms into one web site?

(cross-threading all over the place)
