Adidas is acquring Reebok so they can go toe-to-toe with industry leader, Nike.

Will the new contender become Adeebok?

Merger likely to heat sports-brands battle
Boston Globe, August 4, 2005

In the brutal world of athlete endorsements, the big three sporting-apparel companies -- Nike, Reebok, and Adidas -- frequently go head to head. Adidas's $3.8 billion deal to acquire Reebok, disclosed yesterday, is likely to intensify that competition, sports marketing specialists said, as the combined company marshals a worldwide roster of stars and looks to expand in growing consumer markets, especially China.

I would recommend 'Springbok' for the young athletes
and 'Reedid' for the mature set.
Not that anyone is likely to ask me.

Not bad:-), though the company's full name is already Adidas-Salomon Corp., so you might use some of that in the name - especially considering Salomon was/is probably worth close to or more than Reebok. It is, btw, a little known fact that the name Adidas is an eponym of the founder, Adolf Dassler. His brother Rudolf founded the much smaller company Puma.

Really? I read that more than 20 years ago here in NZ, so I'm surprised to hear that it is "little known". It was in an article on "famous feuds" or words to that effect, and focussed at length on the relationship between the two brothers.

Well, there you go; it was known 20 years ago and many have forgotton:-) I rather meant 'little' in the sense that the firm is very well-known worldwide - and that comparatively few people who know Adidas know where the name comes from. But, people such as yourself Vernon.. well, you know.
