Strange that today's wwftd, inebriety, seems to be the only word to rhyme with...sobriety! And, as inebriate is a kin and root to the former, ergo, is sobriate then another word for unfuzzle?

today's wwftd, inebriety

strange that you would conflate wwftd with awad -- what *have you been drinking? as for me, I would never, ever use such a mundane and worthful word for my diurnal offering.

"strange that you would conflate wwftd with awad --"

He didn't conflate, he confused.I don't wish to sound rude, but when I looked up conflate, it means mix in the sense of putting two things into one container.

>I don't wish to sound rude

not only was it rude, but the word was carefully chosen to give him the benefit of the doubt; i.e., that he has purposely combined or fused the two -- but he was probably just confused.

1. To bring together; meld or fuse: “They ingeniously conflated other characters and incidents to provide an opéra-comique setting” (Andrew Porter). 2. To combine (two variant texts, for example) into one whole. AHD

Dear tsuwm: I really did not mean to offend, but I politely decline to accept your usage in this case.

here's something you might want to take up with M-W as well:

conflate \kn-flAt\ conflated conflating [L conflatus, pp. of conflare to blow together, fuse, fr. com- + flare to blow more at blow] (1610)
verb transitive
1 a : to bring together : fuse
b : confuse
2 : to combine (as two readings of a text) into a composite whole

Many apologies for insulting your Royal Unworthfuless, tsuwm! I was in a hurry and, obviously, my mind did a flip on today's two site offerings. I won't let it happen again, I promise!
