thanks, Bill. it made me wonder about it's relationship to comma(in musical terms), which I had to look up. I found this at Infoplease(via OneLook, which gave better results than Ultralingua ): 3. Music.the minute, virtually unheard difference in pitch between two enharmonic tones, as Gsharp and Aflat. apparently, no relationship at all...

If you tune a piano, say, by starting at, say, C and tuning pure fifths around the circle of fifths, when you get back to C you will find that the distance from the F to the C is a little flat of a pure fifth.
