Grangerize - never heard it before, do not expect ever to see it again. But it reminded me of "Grange" a rural tradition that I expect is close to being extinct. It is an association of farm people, but there are so few small farms left that Grange membership must be now very small. But my kids used to be happy to participate in the local Grange fairs, and exhibit their vegetables, animals, and craft projects. Bet few AWADtalk members have ever heard of it. Note definition 3 below:
range 7granj8
n.
5ME < Anglo-Fr graunge (OFr grange) < ML granica < L granum, GRAIN6
1 orig., a granary
2 a farm with its dwelling house, barns, etc.
>3 [G3] any local lodge of the Grange
>the Grange the Patrons of Husbandry, an association of farmers organized in the U.S. in 1867 for mutual welfare and advancement

Sardonic - I was surprised to see my dictionary derives its etymology from the island of Sardinia. I have never read of any important person of any kind who came from there. So I wonder how it became eponym of a type of irony.
Etymology of "sardines" is much easier.

Sardonic in our sense comes from the expression on the face of someone who has expired after ingesting a certain poisonous plant native to Sardinia.
