For anyone interested in Colonial Plymouth, the URL below gives a good to browse for.
I searched for "blunderbuss" which is the bell muzzled gun often erroneiously shown
in Thanksgiving cartoons as weapon to shoot the turkey. It is of Dutch origin, but there
seems to be no basis for alleging Pilgrims used them.
http://www.plimoth.org/ There is really a lot to browse for.

I always get 'blunderbuss' and 'bumbershoot' confused (not that there many occasions to use either). Anybody out there got a good mnemonic?

Dear AS: an ancient vile joke. If the bumbershoot bursts, you may fill a blunderbuss.
