David Salo is a linguist, currently at the University of Wisconsin (GO BADGERS!), who became expert in the Lord of the Rings languages of Quenya and Sindarin. Here is an article about his work on the movies:

Thanks Sparteye - he was mentioned in the local paper a year or more ago, but I didn't have time to follow up on it.

I must say I find it fascinating that someone would spend time "learning" a language for which the syntax and semantics are, to say the most, fragmentary. Never mind two!

A bit like Klingon, really. Only slightly less blood thirsty!
