Isn't this just the most--well, romantic word?? It just fires the imagination! Maybe because it sounds old-fashioned, I don't know. But you can picture it as everything from delightful to threatening.

I get images of Ichabod Crane, the Headless Horseman.

Sounds like something out of a fantasy/scifi novel. An anti sparkle.

I just finished a book entitled "The Darkling Plain".

An anti sparkle. Olly! I love that! I love you! That is wonderful! I think I'll write Anu that one--I'm sure he'll love it too.

Buffle--I've heard of that book. Is it good?

it's the fourth (and final, I believe) volume of a YA steampunk series by Philip Reeve, and I enjoyed them very much. A touching ending which left me in tears. I didn't want it to end.

olly--I did send your term to Anu...and he thanked me! blush grin
If I were ever to somehow meet that man ftf, I just...I just...I don't know--if I didn't faint dead away in sheer awe immediately, I'd prolly faint dead away soon after from the stress of trying to make my mind connect to my mouth and have actual words come out. Seriously--I can't imagine being able to say one single word to him! [cold hands e]

Ooh, R--I want to read that, now!

I was inspired.......It was a darkeling day tumbling about in the cloud cover and cold mists of rain ....and reminded of the immortal...dark and stormy night.
