I have sinned: peccavi; a British commander in India, having invaded and captured Sindh, sent this one-word message to headquarters: Peccavi. Maybe somebody out there can look this up to make sure it is not apocryphal. If true, it is a marvelous pun, and even if it's not true, it's still pretty good.
