A good sturdy Old English word that deserves to escape obsolescence.

The Spanish word for betrothed or engaged is "compromiso" which I think is a wonderful coincidence.
And I agree it is a much better word than engaged, carrying more of promise and romance and less of business appointments

"I plight thee my troth". Old words, but they are still beautiful.
